En jouant à la fois sur l'internationalisation du web et sur un modèle économique original GoToWorld.com fait un double pari qui semble porter ses fruits. Lancé par l'entreprise californienne Languageforce ce nouveau portail apparaît d'abord aux américains comme une façon commode d'accéder aux sites dont le contenu n'est pas rédigé en anglais. E-Start.com a lancé cette semaine son programme Greenhouse, une sorte de pépinière d'entreprise virtuelle. Il s'agit en fait d'un centre de ressources et de capitaux européens destinés aux start-ups du Net, plus spécialement dans le domaine du commerce électronique. Something to look forward to
Web Venture From DreamWorksThe directors said Monday they are teaming up to form POP.com, which will broadcast live-action, animation and other short features over the Internet.
POP.com is a partnership between DreamWorks, the studio founded by Spielberg, Jeffrey Katzenberg and David Geffen, and Imagine Entertainment, a production company started by Howard and producer Brian Grazer.
The effort is being financed by Vulcan Ventures Inc., the investment arm of billionaire Paul Allen, the Microsoft co-founder who owns a stake in DreamWorks. NY Times

GM Christmas tree would glowFrustrated fiddling with Christmas tree fairy lights could become a thing of the past as genetic engineers have proposed a tree which grows its own lights. Thier plan is to modify a Douglas spruce with two genes to make it illuminate. These would taken from fluorescent jellyfish and fireflies. BBC

Fortune is entering the market for Internet business magazines with a new title tentatively called eCompany Unlimited.
