| Media Slate readership, revenues rise Microsoft's e-zine, Slate.com, has almost quintupled its readership in the eight months since going from a subscription service to a free Web site. Publisher Scott Moore reported audience traffic measurements from Media Metrix (MMXI) showed 1.17 million readers in September, compared to 222,000 in January, the last month Slate.com was a paid service. He also said In the last three months, Slate.com has signed 13 new advertisers for combined revenues of more than $2.5 million. (Tipworld newsletter) |

The new "think tank" will kick off its efforts with a research project on the Internet's economic impact and an initiative designed to educate the presidential candidates on Internet issues.
