The New York Times dismissed 23 employees at an administrative center for violating the company's e-mail policy, said a company spokeswoman. They had violated a policy specifying that "computer communications must be consistent with conventional standards of ethical and proper conduct, behavior and manners and are not to be used to create, forward or display any offensive or disruptive messages, including photographs, graphics and audio materials." A fight is brewing over whether eBay should allow sales of Swastikas, armbands that Jews were forced to wear at Auschwitz and comic strips depicting women under Nazi torture. An eBay search on "Nazi" brings up more than 3,000 items for sale through its auction marketplace. (News.com)

Staples will sell Journal Interactive
Staples said it will begin selling subscriptions to Dow Jones' Wall Street Interactive Edition. The move follows a pilot program in 200 stores last month. It will now expand to all 800 Staples outlets. (Tipworld newsletter)

Report: Brand Not Driving Drive Young Online Consumers
Certain companies marketing to young consumers don't need mass-appeal sites at all and should redirect their online efforts to banner advertising and sponsorships, says a new e-commerce study. The new Technographics Report from Forrester Research says that young consumers' preferences for leading brands don't correlate with traffic to these companies' Web sites. Brands dependent upon high-traffic numbers should focus on providing young consumers with functionality and utility. (Internet News)

Investment banking firms fall victim to virus
Firms were hit by a version of the Worm.ExploreZip virus about an hour before the market closed. One source said CS First Boston also was affected. It was unclear if the outbreak was widespread or whether it was limited to the investment banking community. (News.com)

Al Gore once claimed to have invented the Internet, but his rival for the Democratic presidential nomination Bill Bradley has learned to exploit it. The former New Jersey senator raised more than $1.18 million via his Web site as of Tuesday.
