Northern Light annonce 200 millions de pages
Northern Light vient d'annoncer que son index faisait aujourd'hui 200 millions de pages uniques. En même temps, le site Search Engine Showdow de Greg Notess donnait des chiffres allant dans le même sens, indiquant même que les 250 millions de documents annoncés par AltaVista étaient surestimés. Yahoo! et Lycos vers le sans fil
Yahoo! et New World Development, une société de Hong Kong, ont signé un accord pour délivrer des informations (actualité, résultats du tiercé, infos boursières, etc.) aux utilisateurs de téléphones cellulaires en utilisant la technologie WAP. De son côté, c'est Lycos qui travaille avec Ericsson dans le même sens : actualité, résultats sportifs et réception d'e-mail sur téléphone portable. (Abondance)

AT&T WorldNet down for 8 hours Wednesday
AT&T's dial-up WorldNet Internet service experienced a major outage for the better part of Wednesday. An AT&T spokesman said the 8-hour outage, which which
disrupted service to hundreds of thousands of dial-up users, was the result of "inaccurate router tables" inadvertently provided to AT&T by an ISP AT&T wouldn't identify. (TechWeb)

New Disabled Web Site Unveiled
The publisher of a magazine for the disabled unveiled a new Web site and tools to make the Internet more accessible to the blind and other disabled users. The software will be written so that the Web page is compatible with such tools as the vibrating mouse. So far, We Media is the only Web site to use coding compatible with the vibrating mouse. But the maker of the mouse Haptic Technologies, hopes other sites will ultimately adopt the coding as well. NY Times
