WIPO rules against private owners of barcelona.com
How many commercial websites can you think of that are named after places or regions? Amazon.com is perhaps the most obvious, and there are many others. Recently there was a little known ruling against one company that COULD set a precedent for anyone wanting to use a geographical place name for a website address. This time the argument about who owns a Net name is over none other than Catalonia's most beautiful city Barcelona. Click Life BBC World

.eu European Domain Will Arrive Mid-2001
The European Commission has now said «.eu» will be introduced in the middle of 2001. Switzerland last month lodged a formal complaint with the EU Commission because it has been excluded from the domain. Switzerland, which is not a member of the EU, says the .eu domain should not be exclusive to the 15 EU member states. Internet News
