Court Rules 'Thumbn ail' Images OK, Full-Sized Copies Not
In an important decision for the application of copyright law on the Internet, a federal appeals court has ruled that while Web sites may legally reproduce and post "thumbnail" versions of copyrighted photographs, displaying full-sized copies of the images violates artists' exclusive right to display their own works.  (Wired)

Federal investigators are cracking down on Internet sales of real -- and fake -- police, FBI, Secret Service, and other law enforcement badges. In the wake of September 11's attacks, they are worried the badges could be bought by terrorists who could use them to get into government buildings, airports, power plants, and other facilities. Hyperlink Patent Goes to Trial
Who owns the hyperlink patent?
British Telecommunications rocked the Internet in June 2000, when they claimed ownership of a hyperlinks patent (patent 4,873,662), registered 16 years ago. In December 2000 BT began its legal fight to claim back millions of dollars in licensing revenues from US ISPs byfilling it's first case against Prodigy Communications. n/e/tsurf
