Google accusé de favoriser l'église de scientologie
Google est accusé d'avoir éliminé le site Xenu.net, hostile à la scientologie, de la page de résultats pour le mot clé "scientology". Google a confirmé les faits, indiquant qu'il avait reçu de la part de la secte une plainte concernant ce site qui aurait enfreint des copyrights à son sujet. (Abondance)

Symantec spills email addresses of list subscribers
Subscribers to a Symantec digest have alerted us after receiving an administrative message that divulged user email details. Symantec sent out a message on Monday seeking to delete people from the list, which provided the addresses of 74 subscribers to its monthly Security Response newsletter. Last May, Computer Associates made a similar faux pas which resulted in 60,000 subscribers to its anti-virus alert email list receiving a spam message. (The Register)

Copyright Defense Proposed
A key senator introduced legislation Thursday that would turn electronics manufacturers and software developers into copyright police. Called the Consumer Broadband and Digital Television Promotion Act, the bill -- introduced by Sen. Ernest F. Hollings (D-S.C.), chairman of the Senate Commerce Committee -- would require that new hardware and software, from CD players to television sets to computers, block unauthorized copying of copyrighted works. Women Online
European women fuel Internet boom
European women are using the Internet more than ever and surfing more efficiently than men, a survey reveals. The number of female Web users increased 29 percent between February 2001 and February 2002 to 25.1 million in France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the UK combined. This compared to an increase of 24 percent male users from 31.9 million to 40.1 million during the same period. (CNN)
