Microsoft Warns on Email Security
Microsoft Corp. disclosed a security flaw Thursday of ``critical'' severity in its Outlook Express e-mail programs. The flaw, which affects the free e-mail software bundled in Microsoft's Internet Explorer Web browser, could allow attackers to crash the e-mail program or to potentially take over the user's machine. The flaw does not affect Microsoft Outlook, the e-mail program included in the Office suite of business software. The security bulletin is the Redmond-based company's 58th this year. ( News.com)

MSN Virus Alert : «Henpeck»
Henpeck worm cons MSN chat crowd
A worm spreads among users of Microsoft's Messenger system by fooling people into downloading an infectious file from the Internet. Known as Henpeck, the worm used MSN's chat network to send messages containing a link to a malicious online file, called BR2002.exe. People who clicked the link triggered a download of the file and inadvertently ran the infectious program. The worm then sent instant messages to everyone on a victim's buddy list. (News.com) |

T-Mobile, Borders ink Hot Spot deal
T-Mobile today will announce an agreement with Borders to create T-Mobile Hot Spots in more than 400 Borders Books and Music locations nationwide. T-Mobile's service, called T-Mobile HotSpot, allows customers with a Wi-Fi-enabled laptop or PDA to access the Internet or Intranet at broadband speeds in public settings. The service will roll out at Borders locations beginning in the first quarter of 2003, with stores in California the first to offer service. T-Mobile currently has the largest network of Hot Spots in the U.S. -- more than 1,600 locations -- followed by Boingo Wireless and Wayport. (Fierce Wireless Newsletter) |
