Wardriving
Hackers prepare for global wardrive
Hackers around the world this weekend are expected to launch a campaign to hack into wireless Internet connections in 25 cities including Boston, San Francisco, and Barcelona. The goal of some who are participating in the worldwide "wardrive" is to expose vulnerabilities in wireless LANs.

Others want to advertise the locations of free, high-speed Internet connections (a technique called warchalking), while others will be out to sabotage the networks. Network security firms see the worldwide wardrive as a marketing opportunity, and are warning customers to make their wireless networks secure. So, be warned! Fiercewireless.com newsletter
