It's been a tough year for many dot-com companies and the press has been relentless in tracking their demise. Across the board, from the Wall Street Journal, to the Industry Standard, layoffs and shut downs of failing companies have been meticulously tallied and accounted for on interactive timelines and charts. An predictably, new websites popped up to dish out the dirt: F....company, Dotcomfailures, Dotcomgraveyard, to name just a few. n/e/tsurf too, sadly, tracked those tracking, in a special report «Failurenalia». ![]() Boo.com, Dr. Koop, Scour .com, Pets.com, Boxman, Furniture.com, Auctions.com, APBNews, eParties.com, Toysmart, Living.com 61 dot-coms so far have closed their doors this year. Net businesses were forced to lay off a total of 28'243 employees 75% of shuttered dot coms were in B2C sector 80% of shutdowns involved e-commerce companies "Some people are wrongly confused about the difference between dot-com bubble and new economy.
