Failurenalia
It's been a tough year for many dot-com companies and the press has been relentless in tracking their demise. Across the board, from the Wall Street Journal, to the Industry Standard, layoffs and shut downs of failing companies have been meticulously tallied and accounted for on interactive timelines and charts. An predictably, new websites popped up to dish out the dirt: F....company, Dotcomfailures, Dotcomgraveyard, to name just a few. n/e/tsurf too, sadly, tracked those tracking, in a special report «Failurenalia».

Words of Wisdom [ Source: Article in The Sand Francisco Gate ]
"Some people are wrongly confused about the difference between dot-com bubble and new economy. The new economy is an enormous transformation of culture and institutions from the Industrial Age to the Information Age. It's not that the new economy is a fraud. It's not that the Information Age isn't real. Can you think of a revolution that wasn't painful?" — Katrina Heron, editor of Wired

Dotcom Backlashes in Silicon Valley

Dot.com companies in Sillicon Valley felt unwelcome for the first time this year, as small merchants and artists complained of the rents in the Bay area.

dot.com's go home
Residents have signed a petition to limit the growth of technology companies in San Francisco

Officials of suburban San Mateo considered a temporary moratorium on retail-space conversions cf San Francisco residents.

Dotcom businesses have been called docommies, docommunists and even e-holes

Not nice
It turns out that not everyone working for a tech company is paid in stock options or gets even a decent salary. Silicon Valley janitors earn $8 to $9 an hour which translates into about $ 17'000 a year, with no benefits. Wired.com
